Since taking over the team in September, Coach Craig and I have been consistently impressed with our juniors’ enthusiasm and dedication. It has been so much fun to ride with them and see their progress as cyclists. As the new team coach, three things have become apparent to me over the course of the fall season:
1. These kids are tough! I’m amazed and inspired by the way they take on each race, pedaling just as intensely as any pro bike racer. They give it their all.
2. The team atmosphere plays a huge role in the success of the junior program. It has been great to see everyone warming up for races together, cheering each other on from the Cycle U tent, and encouraging one another during practices. It’s the strong supportive crew of kids and parents that makes up the core of the team.<
3. I can’t wait to see what the team can do during the 2014 racing season. Whether it’s road, mountain, track or ‘cross, we do it all! We have a lot of talented juniors with the potential to go far, and I’m sure we’ll have a ton of fun along the way.
We’ve started up our weekly team rides again and are looking forward to a great year. Know kids who like bikes? Send them to us! We would love to see some new faces. Here’s to an awesome 2014—let’s go crush some trails and tarmac!
