Trip Basics

Ever wanted to train like a pro?  Join Cycle U founder and Head Coach Craig Undem and coaches Colin Gibson, Tom Meloy and Mary Craig at a fully supported four-day cycling camp in the heart of the Walla Walla Valley.  Each day offers 40-80 miles of riding through the rolling wheat fields of the Palouse, including ascents into the Blue Mountains of Oregon.  After each day’s ride, hand your bike off to the mechanic for cleaning, and take advantage of coaching seminars, reservations at Walla Walla’s famous wine tasting rooms and restaurants, sporting events at nearby Whitman College, or any of the many other activities available in the city.


This camp is designed to offer you uninterrupted training and recovery.  The camp staff will take care of the food, course planning, and logistics–you focus on riding hard and getting stronger.  Walla Walla is one of the most beautiful and cycling friendly areas in Washington. For riders used to the busy urban roads of Seattle, the roads of the Palouse are truly unbelievable. The Walla Walla Wine & Wheels camp is best suited for riders able to ride 50 miles at a moderate to faster pace. (16-18 mph)

Riders who want to arrive early on Thursday can add a short warm up ride to make it a five-day super camp.  Others can arrive Thursday evening and get ready for four days of long riding. If it suits your needs, Horizon Air flies direct to Walla Walla for a quicker trip.

Our Walla Walla Camp is a fully supported cycling camp, and while the focus is on the riding, the long weekend isn’t just about the bike. Walla Walla, offers much besides cycling, including a strong restaurant scene and the best wineries in the state.  For interested cyclists and/or significant others participating in the Walla Walla Camp, there will be opportunities to check out all that Walla Walla and the surrounding areas have to offer. An early riding start will ensure plenty of time to relax or explore after each day’s ride. Routes will be 40-80 miles long, and an early start will leave lots of time for other activities.

Every morning, we will have a nutritious breakfast and a pre-ride coaching clinic. On the road, we will have a follow car providing freshly prepared ride food and mechanical support.  Cycle U Coaches will ride with the group, and riders are encouraged to take advantage of their training and racing experience. Depending on the strength of the group, we may split into intermediate and advanced groups on the road.

Daily Rides

Thursday: for the early-birds, we will provide a suggested 16-20 mile route for those interested. You are on your own on this one; there won’t be any support, but plenty of beautiful scenery.  We’ll have a short meeting on Thursday evening, for all campers, outlining camp logistics, routes, support, coaching, etc.

Friday through Monday: Every day we will head out in a different direction to do a great 40-80 mile ride. The camp is designed to alternate easier and harder riding days. The big weekend goal is a successful climb and descent of a challenging climb in the Blue Mountains on Sunday.

Hotel Information

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn, just a short ride or walk from downtown Walla Walla.

Amenities include:
– Full daily breakfast (much more than coffee and pastries)
-Wireless internet in all rooms

-2 Queen or King beds per room
-In-room coffee, hair dryer, bathroom
-All units have a mini Refrigerator, Microwave oven, tea maker, coffee maker and mini bar
-BBQ grills
-On-Site Guest Self-Laundry (washer/dryer)

-Unfortunately, pets will not be allowed

Cost Information

**Final full price is $800 (double room) or $1000 (single room)**
The camp package includes 4 nights hotel (2 people per room), breakfast, lunch and ride food, mechanical support, and 4 days of fully supported riding, including several pre- and post-ride clinics.  Scheduled dinners and other excursions may be scheduled, but are at the rider’s expense.

Single room supplement is $200. When you register, please email mary@cycleu.com and indicate that you would like a single room. The additional $200 fee will be collected at time of final payment.
-Riders will sign-up with a $350 deposit.
-Riders canceling on or before August 15th will receive a $250 refund from their deposit, $100 after August 15th.
-No refunds after Sept 13th.
-Payment in full is due on or before Sept 13th.
