Coached and Managed by Craig Undem
Cycle U is excited to support junior racing in the Northwest. Our goal is to provide a fun, healthy environment for young racers and expose them to a wide variety of cycling disciplines, build fitness and promote an active lifestyle as well as to develop a group of juniors that can race at the national level.
Cost is $100 a month or $500 for the year for the basic team membership. (The team provides deep discount on team-clothing and equipment which are optional)
Our program emphasizes team building and consistency by running weekly team rides around the Seattle area. From January through July we have team practices focused primarily on Road cycling, and from June through December we hold weekly cyclocross practices (which might also include indoor training, goal setting sessions, mountain bike riding and running). Our team members race road, mountain, track, and cyclocross events around the Northwest and volunteer at local races. All kids ages 7-17 are welcomed, regardless of experience or skill level.
Varsity level is for those junior riders who display the consistency and focus to become serious racers and who can ride fast. This program is by invitation only and has separate workouts and coaching that will help develop young racers into their full potential to race at top of the local, region, national or world level. It includes Coaching and Bikefitting on an ongoing basis during the program. Cyclocross is the main focus June – Nationals in January, from January – July the team focus will be Road Racing. Any rider wishing to join Varsity must first join the Cycle U Junior team and attend workouts and races to be evaluated by Coach Craig. *Cost for Varsity is an additional $500 and includes free helmet, shoes and special discount on bikes
